Joylette Portlock, PhD, UCSUR’s Community Impact Network Director, has over fifteen years’ experience strategically aligning a diversity of stakeholders to solve problems and generate systemic change.
Before joining UCSUR Dr. Portlock served as executive director of Sustainable Pittsburgh, where she oversaw programming for 800+ regional and statewide partners; as associate director for science and research at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, where she advised and developed research and collections efforts; and as executive director of Communitopia, where she led data-driven, community-facing climate education initiatives. She currently chairs the Allegheny County Board of Health, on which she has served since 2012, championing health equity and improvement in evaluation systems.
Dr. Portlock holds a Bachelor of Science in biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a PhD in genetics from Stanford University.
