Mission

Our mission is to partner with government, academia and the broad family support stakeholder community to translate state-of-the-art research and training into services and support programs to improve the care, health, and quality of life of all persons with disabilities and the families who support them.

Research

Our Center faculty and staff conduct research that addresses family support for persons with disabilities (PwDs) across the lifespan to improve care, health, and quality of life outcomes.

Our aim is to advance the science of family support services that are person- and family-centered, promote choice and control for PwDs, and are scalable and sustainable in the community.

Community Support and Training

We are committed to training future change agents in rehabilitation and the health and social service professions who are dedicated to helping advance science, practice and policy initiatives for families of PwDs across the lifespan.

Training activities will be housed within the National Center on Family Support and integrated into the Center for Caregiving Research, Education and Policy.  We will strive to implement our training activities in a culture of diversity and inclusiveness and in a context that enables all to develop their fullest potential.

Resources

We are internationally recognized experts in caregiving, disabilities, aging, rehabilitation, self-management in chronic and disabling conditions, digital behavioral interventions, health information management systems, and health policy.

Our interdisciplinary team collaborates with a broad spectrum of dedicated universities, providers, stakeholder organizations and community focused non-profits with a shared goal of improving the quality of life for all persons with disabilities and their families.
